Your first visit to Airport Dental is a fantastic opportunity for us to get to know you and your needs.
This visit is also more than just a ‘check up’, it’s a great time to focus on prevention and identify any potential issues in their early stages, and potentially stop them from happening at all.
More importantly, we want your first visit to be as comfortable and reassuring as possible, especially if it’s been a while, you’ve never visited a dentist before, or you suffer from any anxiety.
We’ll welcome you with a smile and do our very best to create a relaxed environment so you can freely discuss any concerns you may have about your oral health.
Here are just a few reasons so many people make Airport Dental their practice of choice:

To make your first visit flow as smoothly as possible, we ask that you arrive a few minutes before your appointment and fill out a short but necessary medical history form, if you haven’t already filled it in online.
Then you will meet with an Airport Dental team member who will complete the following:

Thorough review of your medical and dental history

Screening for oral cancers
Examination of your teeth and soft tissues
Occlusion (or “bite”) check
Assessment of any TMJ(temporomandibular) problems

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about insurance coverage.
A Booking deposit is required for all Dental Hygiene appointments as well as all Dental appointments longer than 30mins.
Our team will let you know what is required when you book your appointment.
If you are unable to attend your appointment
To help us run our practice smoothly, we ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend your appointment. If you have a Monday appointment, we ask that you please cancel on the previous Friday before 4pm.
This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient on our cancellation list, or someone who is in pain and needs to be seen urgently.
If You Cancel On Short Notice Or Fail To Attend Your Appointment
If you cancel without giving us the specified notice we reserve the right to refuse further appointments or charge a re-appointment fee:
Charge: €50 per 30 min appointment
Keep us informed
However, we know that sometimes personal emergencies arise, and we may waive the charge if we feel it is appropriate.
Please have a chat to our team.
If you are a patient of Airport Dental and have an emergency please contact the practice first thing in the morning.
Keep in mind that emergency appointments are rarely available at our busiest times but we will do everything we can to see you as soon as possible.
We will try to accommodate non-patients with emergencies as well if space is available.
In the event of an extreme dental emergency and you are unable to contact our practice, please go to your local A&E.
Dental pain can be eased with over-the-counter painkillers, such as Isbuprofen. Always follow the directions on the packet or from the pharmacist. Phone the dentist as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.
Swelling can be caused by infection from an abscess. The most common treatment is a dentist/doctor prescribed antibiotic. Pain relief can also be taken. Contact your dentist for an appointment, but if you experience difficulty with breathing or swallowing you should go straight to the hospital.
When a crown/bridge comes out the most common mistake people make is to try to replace it with superglue. Please do not do this! You can buy temporary cement from the chemist to use until you get an appointment to attend the surgery. If you still have the crown, keep it safe until your appointment.
Again, do not attempt to repair the denture with superglue! Make an appointment with the practice as soon as possible and keep any broken parts of the denture for your appointment. Usually, a lab technician can repair a denture in one day.
Usually, a broken tooth or filling creates a sharp edge that can irritate your tongue. To prevent irritation you can purchase temporary filling material at most chemists that you should use until you can get an appointment.
You should also try to avoid eating with the side of the mouth with the broken filling. You may also need to avoid very hot/cold liquids if you are experiencing any sensitivity around the affected area.
If you have a knocked-out tooth, put it back in the socket if possible or, alternatively, place it in a glass of milk. This will help to keep the tooth alive and healthy.
