And though it may not seem like a big deal to most people, even a single missing tooth can be the source of much bigger problems further down the road. It can affect your speech and cause issues with the way you eat and ultimately even digestion issues.
Implants are a revolutionary and advanced technique for replacing one or more missing teeth- especially for those who are not suited to, or don’t want, dentures or bridges.
At Airport Dental, our highly trained team, led by Dr Eoin Mills, offer a strong, long-lasting tooth replacement solution that looks and feels incredibly natural. Best of all, implants can replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or an entire set.
Implants can greatly improve your smile, your confidence and quality of life.
In simple terms, a dental implant is a high-tech replacement for a tooth’s root made from titanium. These titanium roots are placed into your natural bone structure where they fully integrate and serve as the foundation for the replacement tooth or teeth.
Once the titanium screw has been inserted, the jaw bone is left alone to heal around it (osseointegration) for approximately 3 months.
During this time, our implant patient wears a temporary denture or bridge to fill the space from the missing tooth.
Finally, when the screw is fully integrated, a single crown, bridge or implant supported denture is fitted and the procedure is complete.
The entire process generally lasts between 3-6 months.
By their very nature, having an implant put in place is a more involved treatment than other cosmetic solutions. It requires a fairly minor surgical procedure and requires time and patience but in the end they offer many benefits that other treatments can’t such as:
A proven long-term solution to missing teeth
Preservation of your jaw bone
A more natural smile
Improved quality of life
Freedom to eat what you want compared to dentures and bridges
Value for money - Compared to long-term costs of other restorative work, implants can actually be less expensive
